Women on the Water: A program for adult women
Our program, sponsored by the Bay View Boat Club and the Mariposa Hunters Point Yacht Club is run like a club for women to participate in a variety of water activities to encompass all levels of interest. The events will include small boat sailing, lessons, training and other on-the-water areas where interest is shown, i.e. kayaking, power boat operating, and paddle boarding.
Participants will build upon skills with classroom time as well as plenty of time on the water. We’ll review nautical terminology, handling sheets and sails when tacking and jibing. You’ll learn basic sail shape when wind direction and strength changes, boat rigging and knots, i.e., figure eight, bowline, square knots, round turn, half hitches and clove hitch.
